Dr Brown’s Electric Steriliser and Bottle Warmer FAQs
How do I operate and clean my Dr Brown's Bottle Warmer?
It is equipped with an internal sensor that will automatically shut the unit off if it gets too hot or runs out of water. The display will flash 0’s. The switch will automatically reset once the unit cools down.
If your bottle warmer is not functioning properly, the warming chamber may not be getting enough water from the blue/grey reservoir on the side of the unit. Please check the reservoir and where it connects to the warmer to make sure the openings are unobstructed. Then perform the de-scaling procedure described below to remove any deposits that may affect warmer performance. Finally, install a full water reservoir and look for 2-3 distinct air bubbles that should travel from the bottom to the top of the reservoir indicating that a small amount of water has been released into the appliance.
Our De-Scaling instructions remove any limescale deposits and is important to descale every 4 weeks. For best results, please use the following procedure for de-scaling:
Unplug appliance and pour all remaining water out of the Heating Chamber and Removable Water Reservoir. To de-scale, mix 2 oz (50 ml) of white vinegar with 4 oz (100 ml) of cold water and pour directly into the Removable Water Reservoir. Then run warming cycles until the reservoir is empty. Then unplug appliance and rinse the Heating Chamber and Removable Water Reservoir with clean water.
To clean the bottle warmer reservoir:
- Fill reservoir with hot, soapy water and let sit for a few minutes to soften/loosen the debris.
- Remove out all the water.
- Add two spoonfuls of dry, uncooked, non-instant rice with a spoonful of water and shake vigorously.
- Rinse well. Repeat if necessary.
How do I operate and clean my Dr Brown's Electric Steriliser?
Be sure to pour the water from the measuring cup into the device prior to plugging the unit in or turning it on. The steriliser has a safety feature that will turn off automatically when the unit runs out of water. If no water exists inside the unit when turning it on, it will not function.
It is recommended to use distilled water in this unit.
Please wash the bottles and all parts in hot soapy water or top rack of dishwasher prior to placing them in the steriliser.
Descaling instructions.
It is important to de-scale this appliance every 4 weeks (or more frequently if needed). This process will help ensure that it continues to work properly and to adequately keep the unit clean.
De-scale by utilising 110ml mixture of 80ml of white vinegar and 30ml of cold water and pour directly over the heating element. Turn the unit on, run until the mixture is evaporated and any scaling has been removed. Unplug appliance and rinse the Heating Chamber & Removable Water Reservoir with clean water.
We don’t advise to use any form of descaling product, as this can damage the unit and void the warranty.
