Q. Where are your products manufactured?
A. Our products are made in the United States, China and Germany. All of our products undergo extensive third-party testing. Our manufacturer, Handi-Craft, will remain vigilant in monitoring and responding to all consumer contacts to ensure that it maintains its commitment to produce innovative and safe products that deserve the trust of parents with infants.
Q. How do I find out what level my teats are?
A. You can find out what level your teats are by looking on the bulb of the teat, it will be located on the side.
Q. Why is the ink coming off of my bottle?
A. We can assure you that the ink we use is non-toxic and poses no harm to your child.
With excessive sterilisation and/or rough scrubbing of the exterior of the bottle, the ink on some Dr Brown’s bottles may peel or fade over time.
To prevent further issues, avoid over-sterilising the bottle vessel for example leaving your bottle in a cold-water solution over night or all day, and do not aggressively wash the exterior.

Q. How do you ensure that the measurements on your bottles and training cups are accurate?
A. There are variations in liquid measuring devices depending on how each manufacturer verifies the initial liquid measurements. Bottle manufacturers have to either develop artwork for printing or they have to engrave a plastic mold to transfer the measurement markings to the bottle or measuring cup. Several common problems with measuring cups and baby bottles are:
- Inaccurate liquid measuring device for calibration
- Misaligned printing or mis-registered printing
- Improper engraving of the plastic mold
- Material shrinkage after the bottle or measuring cup has been exposed to dishwasher cycles, boiling water, sterilisation, etc
To minimise these potential issues, we pre-condition the bottles to reduce the shrinkage before we start the liquid measurement calculations. Water is used for all of the calibration measurements and we measure all the water amounts with a laboratory graduated cylinder. The water is then poured into the bottle and the height of the water is recorded using a digital micrometer. This process determines placement for the “ml” or “oz” markings on the bottle when different amounts of water are added.
We certify our bottles according to BS EN Standard 14350 5.4.1 and 5.4.2.

Q. How do I remove stains from products?
A. Plastic bottles and components may become stained from contact with ingredients in formula like iron, or from juices, foods, and cleaning products that contain natural or artificial colouring. It is unlikely that staining will affect performance as long as the bottle and parts are in good condition.
Some of the advice we get from Mums on this topic include:
- White Vinegar – Soak bottle in a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water, and then rinse with cold water. Many stains will disappear following this procedure, which can also eliminate odours.
- Baking Soda – Juice stains may be removed by putting baking soda and warm water in the bottle and cleaning with a bottle brush. To get rid of sour-milk smell, fill the bottle with warm water, add a teaspoon of baking soda, shake well, and let stand over night.
Q. Why is there water in my Soother?
A. By design, Soothers in general are not hermetically sealed (air tight). This is to allow air movement in and out of the teat which minimises pressure in the mouth when the baby is sucking. After washing or sterilising, water may remain inside the teat but will typically evaporate within 24 to 48 hours.
Q. Liquid is not coming out of my training cup or my training cup is leaking.
A. If you are having problems with liquid not coming out of your training cup, or if the cup is leaking, please try reassembling the cup:
- Snap the silicone valve to the flat side of the valve disc by pushing the centre piece through the hole.
- Make sure the outer edge of the silicone valve is completely rolled around the edge of the valve disc.
- Suck into the soft spout valve to ensure it is properly assembled. It will make a noise; this will tell you it is together properly.
- Install the valve assembly by pushing it into place on the underside of the spout cap.
- For the Soft-Spout, make sure the silicone Soft-Spout protrudes through the spout cap.
- For the Hard-Spout, make sure the silicone Soft-Spout is snugly positioned into the spout cap.
- Place the handles (if desired) on the cup.
- Fill cup with liquid for feeding – Hot or carbonated liquids are not recommended.
- Screw the spout cap on to the cup until snugly fit.
- Snap lid onto spout cap to keep clean or for travel.
Q. Do your bottles contain BPA?
All of our bottle parts (lid, teat, collar, vent insert and vent reservoir) are interchangeable and are BPA free. None of Dr Brown’s products have ever contained PVC, phthalates, or lead.
